Glenlee Border Collies
This is the site for Jean and Richard Tod who have owned collies since 1984. |
Jean has trained all of our dogs over the years, initially at obedience, then agility from 1989 and latterly has been interested in clicker training and heelwork to music. |
Our first 2 dogs, working sheep dogs, called Samwise and Mithril, were trained to do obedience and reached the beginners standard. These 2 mated and in July 1989 a litter of 4 puppies was born and they kept a bitch called Magic. Then in 1989 I saw an advert for dog agility classes and this has been my main hobby ever since. I worked Magic for a few years and she was sedate and gentle and good to train. She unfortunately had to retire from agility at the age of 10 having suffered from a rare blood disorder. She is however still a very lively dog at nearly 15 years of age and enjoys her life as the matriarch of the family. |
In 1995 Jean wanted another collie for agility and went to Judith Gregory a well renown breeder in the Bristol area. We were then the proud owners of a beautiful “Tonkory” bitch called Callie and she has turned out to be the most loving dog we have ever had. |
When Samwise and the Mithril died within 6 months of each other in 1998/9 we decided that another border collie from breed lines was what we wanted. Our latest bitch Keara also a Tonkory was born in April 2000. |
Both Callie and Keara (pictured above) are doing well at agility and Jean has trained them both at obedience to Good Citizens Gold level. Keara also did a year of heelwork to music training before we moved back to Scotland. |
Keara was mated in March of this year. To see more about Keara and her puppies please click here. |
